In 1963, the Supreme Court decided the landmark case of Gideon v. Wainwright which states that people who cannot afford a lawyer must be provided one. Unfortunately, there are many areas in the country where Gideon has not been achieved. However, there are some courageous young lawyers who are battling some insurmountable odds to make sure that everyone is represented fairly and effectively.
